Pride London 2025

The ACF made their mark at Pride London 2025. They marched with pride and purpose on July 5th, celebrating everything the cadet community stands for… Diversity, inclusion, and unwavering respect. For these young people, this wasn’t just another appearance; it was a bold affirmation of values and a vibrant celebration of the power of difference.

This year’s contingent was made up of cadets and adult volunteers from Army Cadet Units, including Cleveland, Clwyd and Gwynedd, Cumbria, Dorset, Durham, Essex, Greater London South East Sector, Gwent and Powys, Kent, Middlesex and North West London Sector, Northumbria and Surrey. Cadets marched as part of the Youth Section, positioned just behind the Armed Forces contingent.

Northumbria ACF received a grant from ACCT UK to support attendance at the event as part of the MOD contingent.

Stepping Forward Together

For those from Northumbria ACF this year, the trailblazing spirit of their cadets and adult volunteers reflected the growing momentum for participation in one of London’s most dynamic events. With nineteen enthusiastic attendees, supported by ACCT UK, the weekend was packed with cultural insights, landmark tours, and deep learning on the history and significance of Pride.

For many of these young cadets, stepping onto the parade route wasn’t just about waving flags. It was about being visible allies, advocates, and ambassadors for fairness. Each step through London’s bustling streets reaffirmed that our cadet community welcomes every identity and background. This equality is not a target. It’s our reality, day in and day out.

Celebrating Diversity in Every Action

Participation in London Pride is more than an annual commitment. It’s an opportunity to amplify the voices and stories within our ranks that deserve to be heard and celebrated. By showing up, joyfully and unapologetically, the ACF sent a resounding message… Every person matters.

This year’s event, bolstered by heightened national support from the Ministry of Defence (MOD), made ACF presence even more visible and meaningful. We know that representation shapes perception. That’s why cadets stand tall at events like Pride, so other young people see they are welcome in the ACF, no matter who they are.

Learning, Connecting, Empowering

Pride London 2025 was an extraordinary learning experience, thanks to a thoughtfully curated series of activities for visiting cadets. Beyond the exhilaration of the parade itself, the weekend included:

These shared experiences not only deepened the cadets’ understanding of diversity but also created space for cadets and adult volunteers to reflect on why inclusion is so fundamental to teamwork, leadership, and community spirit. These are lessons that travel far beyond London. They ripple through every detachment, every school, and every interaction in our daily lives.

What Pride London 2025 means for our Cadet Community

By marching in Pride, cadets and adult volunteers didn’t just support their LGBTQ+ peers. They championed an environment where everyone is free to be themselves, always. This public stand against prejudice, and passionate embrace of fairness and equality is no small thing. It’s what makes the ACF community truly remarkable.

Visibility and representation matter. That’s why the participation of cadets from across the country is so essential, ensuring that the principles of diversity and respect are more than just words. They’re action, purpose, and practice. The impact is clear. Each cadet returned home empowered, confident, and ready to nurture an environment where difference is cherished, and everyone is inspired to reach their full potential.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on Pride London 2025, it’s impossible not to feel inspired by our cadets and their adult leaders. They walk beside every member of our community, shoulder to shoulder, every step of the way. Thanks to all who made this unforgettable weekend possible… and to those who will pick up the baton of inclusion in years ahead.

With our eyes on the future, one thing is certain: when cadets march at Pride, they make history, shaping the next generation to be braver and kinder… Always ready to champion the values that unite us all.
