Welsh ACF Winter Sports 2023

19 October 2023

Cadets from all over Wales came together in Rossett, near Wrexham, for the 2023 Welsh Army Cadet Force (ACF) Winter Sports event. Hosted by Clwyd and Gwynedd ACF, it was a day filled with excitement and camaraderie, featuring competitions in cross country, orienteering, and football.

Medals, prestigious cups, and the Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK Excellence Award were presented by The Rt Hon. the Lord Touhig, President of the Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK in Wales.🏅 🤝

👏 Gwent and Powys ACF emerged as the overall champions, and Captain Rachael Jones received the Excellence Award for her outstanding contribution to sports.

Towards the end of the event, there was a symbolic transition of leadership in cadet sports in Wales. Mervyn Jones, from Clwyd and Gwynedd, who had diligently served as the Sports Officer formally handed over the baton of responsibility to Captain Rachael Jones from Gwent and Powys. This passing of the baton not only signified the end of one chapter but also marked the beginning of another, as Captain Rachael took on the mantle of leading and nurturing the sporting aspirations of cadets across Wales.! 🌟
