ACCT UK Excellence AWARDS

RECOGNISING EXCELLENCE SINCE 2015

The ACCT UK Excellence Awards are a distinct recognition scheme aimed at promoting and supporting non-military programmes offered by the Army Cadet Force (ACF). At the core of the ACF programme are the military activities of fieldcraft and shooting – a proven vehicle for developing life skills in young people: self confidence, self discipline, teamwork, resilience and so on.

It takes drive and determination to keep the non-military programme going. Adult volunteers are spread thin and already give so much of themselves in time and commitment. Running these wider activities in the ACF is not easy, but it’s very important. ACCT UK works hard to actively promote the diversity of activities and support them through charitable grants.

Thank you for nominating your cadet and adult volunteers for the ACCT UK Awards. Congratulations to the Excellence 2023 successful nominations! Your dedication and commitment are truly commendable.

Our Awards

We recognise excellence in cadets and adult volunteers in the following categories:

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Gives young people nationally recognised qualifications valued by employers. It is fitting that the ACF’s Colonel in Chief was the late Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh. We are proud of the fact that the ACF is one of the four founding organisations that participated in the DofE trial over sixty years ago which helped the Duke of Edinburgh to establish the award.

First Aid

First Aid is such a valuable life skill and it is rare that a week goes by when cadets and adult volunteers do not use that training out in public responding spontaneously to incidents. Every year, numerous ACF cadets and adult volunteers receive national recognition from bodies such as the Order of St. John and the Royal Humane Society.

Music

Music is no longer routinely taught in state schools and thus many young cadets have little opportunity to discover its magic. Providing music training opens the doors to the ACF for some young people who may not otherwise join. The cadets benefit from their training, but so too does the local community as established ACF bands and corps of drums are in much demand

in their counties.

Sport

Sport is so important for the UK and the well-being of its young people, yet too many cadets have little or no opportunity to play sport in their schools and communities. It is a wonderful joy to see cadets play sport with uninhibited enthusiasm. The ACF introduces a wide range of sports to our youth, setting them up with healthy habits that will surely endure into adult life.

Community Service

Community Service is very much part of the ACF’s ethos. There’s no doubt that the ACF helps young people to become good citizens.
