The 300 mile challenge would have included a 3-week journey from Glasgow, the Kilt Walk, a solo 118-mile hike along the West Highland Way, kayaking the Great Glen, and cycling back to Fort William.
Despite the injury, Gina persisted in her commitment to the cause, completing 300 miles on foot around her hometown while recovering. Her efforts resulted in an impressive total of £1600, with £505 towards for ACCT UK and the rest towards 2 other charities. It is a testament to her dedication and the power of community support.
As Gina continues to heal and recover, her spirit remains undeterred. She has already set her sights on future fundraising endeavours, including the Scotland 300 challenge for ACCT UK next year. Additionally, She is actively involved in animal rescue charities, marine mammal medic work, and helping rehome greyhounds in the UK.
The Motto that Gina has always used in her life that has got her through tough times is By DH Lawrence:
I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself
A bird will fall frozen from a bow
Without ever feeling sorry for itself
