Eyes right!Cadets from Devon ACF raise money in 16 hour Drillathon!

12 July 2023

We are thrilled to announce that the Devon Army Cadet Force (ACF) has raised an impressive £915 for ACCT UK through the incredible efforts of their cadets and volunteers. Their 16 hour Drillathon, which commenced promptly at 0800 with cadets from A Company in the Exeter area, saw cadets from all four Companies persevere through rain, wind, and scorching heat until the stroke of midnight. The unwavering support of their teams, along with non-stop coffee, juice, and biscuits, added to the camaraderie and humour that kept them going. ✨

The Drillathon saw over 100 cadets and their supportive adult volunteers from all four companies across Devon, A Coy Exeter, B Coy Plymouth, C Coy North Devon, and D Coy Torbay, joining forces to make this event a resounding success! The event attracted lots of visitors, including Honorary Colonel, Mrs. Grania Philips DL, as well as Jem Ralph, ACCT UK Vice Chair. She was delighted to be able to attend the event to meet with cadets and even managed to join in! Successfully completing the basic Drillathon Drill course, under the excellent supervision of the Cadet Sergeant Major. 🚶‍♀️

Parents were also actively engaged, eagerly immersing themselves in drill training alongside the B Company’s Cadet Cadet Sergeant Major. However amidst the collective endeavour, one of the Staff Sergeant Instructors stood out by undertaking a remarkable solo marching challenge, marching nonstop for an impressive three hours. This display of determination and dedication exemplifies the unbeatable attitude of Devon ACF. 😊

The Devon ACF Drillathon shows the remarkable unity, resilience, and generosity of cadets, adult volunteers, parents, and visitors. Despite challenging weather conditions, the unwavering spirit of their teams, fuelled by coffee, juice, and biscuits, prevailed throughout the day. We extend our deepest thanks to everyone involved for their dedication and support in raising funds for ACCT UK. The funds raised will undoubtedly make a significant difference for young people in the UK. 🤝
