Making a Difference: Fundraising for ACCT UK

25 July 2023

We are thrilled to introduce Cadet Finlay Boyd, 1 star from Glasgow, who has enthusiastically embraced the Cadet Challenge and emerged as the top fundraiser in his region. The Cadet Challenge aims to motivate cadets and adult volunteers to raise a minimum of £10 for ACCT UK. The funds will go towards grants and opportunities to young individuals, enabling them to acquire new skills, foster self-assurance, and cultivate friendships that serve as a source of inspiration and empowerment to achieve their lifelong aspirations.

Upon learning about ACCT UK’s Cadet Challenge, Finlay felt compelled to take action. He wanted to do something to raise funds for their valuable work for young people. We are delighted to share Cadet Finlay’s outstanding efforts in supporting this remarkable cause.

“ACCT UK’s support enables cadets to participate in events, trips, and gain invaluable lifelong skills. As someone with Asperger’s, I appreciate the opportunities ACCT UK provides that may not be available elsewhere. It ensures that everyone, regardless of financial constraints, can benefit from the experiences that annual camp offers.”

“I initiated a successful Facebook campaign that raised a considerable amount. Looking ahead, I aim to undertake more activities after our annual camp to continue fundraising. have raised an impressive £270, which is one of the highest amounts in my Detachment area. My target is to reach £500, so there’s still a lot of work ahead.”

“By sharing my story, I hope to encourage others to contribute whatever they can, even if it’s just £1. Anyone can organise a sponsored event and involve their entire cadet group, whether it’s a hike or a bake sale during meetings. On a lighthearted note, it became a friendly competition with my fellow 2nd Lieutenant, Sir East, to see who could raise more. It added an enjoyable element to our fundraising efforts.”

Finlay has demonstrated that anyone can make a difference through fundraising for ACCT UK. His dedication, passion, and creativity serve as an inspiration for all cadets.
