Adult Volunteer Matt Wills, has raised an incredible £1,184 for ACCT UK by completing the legendary Camino de Santiago. Matt’s epic journey covered a staggering 591 miles, over 27 days across Northern Spain, starting from the French Pyrenees and culminating at Cape Finisterre on the Atlantic Coast, via Santiago de Compostela.
Matt embarked on this challenging trek not just for the adventure, but with a profound purpose in mind – to support ACCT UK. His belief in our mission to empower young people by fostering resilience, confidence, and capability drove him every step of the way. As a recent addition to the fold of Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs), Matt has been deeply inspired by the incredible work and opportunities provided by the Army Cadet Force (ACF), fueling his desire to contribute even more.
Despite the hard work and physical toll of his challenge, Matt was determined to complete the walk in the shortest time possible. His journey was nothing short of extraordinary and he strongly recommends that everyone experience at least a part of one of the many Caminos in their lifetime. Standing at Cape Finisterre, even in thick fog, Matt reflected on the immense distance he had covered. This journey not only showcased his endurance, with a couple of 30-mile days, but also his resilience. He was humbled by the stories of fellow pilgrims, many of whom embarked on the Camino to overcome personal challenges.
