Join us this autumn as we Take ACCTion for ACCT UK
Take ACCTion is a fundraising initiative for groups to take part in, together. It will run for five weeks, from International Day of Charity (5th September) to World Mental Health Day (10th October) 2025.
With approximately 1 in 5 young people and 1 in 4 adults facing mental health challenges, we’re partnering with the Army Cadets’ Healthy Minds Project, which aims to break down barriers, reduce stigma, and promote well-being through cadet activities.
This year, Take ACCTion is supporting Army Cadets UK Ambassador Jordan Wylie’s Antarctic Odyssey (his most ambitious fundraising challenge yet). From next year, Take ACCTion will become an annual part of our Cadet Challenge.
This group challenge will also support adult volunteers to enable cadets to achieve more. Take ACCTion can therefore contribute towards:
We’ve provided a guide and checklist on our assets page to help cadets achieve these goals.
This challenge isn’t just for Army Cadets. Any group or business can take part.
By partnering with us to TAKE ACCTion, your organisation will:
Your corporate contribution directly funds cadet development activities that benefit mental health, delivering sustainable social outcomes. Contact our Corporate Partnerships Team to discuss bespoke partnership opportunities.
Take on one of the first 4 steps to a healthier mind and make a difference!
This is vital for your mental health. Spending time with friends and family can promote well-being. Army Cadets promote connections through detachment nights, weekend events and annual camps.
Take ACCTion – by creating a fundraising event that gives you the chance to spend time with friends and family or make new friends. For example, a ‘knit and natter’ session, coffee morning or quiz night.
Increasing your heart rate releases endorphins, which makes you feel better about whatever you’re going through. The Army Cadets have a Keeping Active subject, which lets you find a physical activity that suits you, as well as other fun activities which get you moving, like Adventurous Training and Fieldcraft.
Take ACCTion – whether you walk, run, cycle or swim…. Create a team, choose a distance and start a fundraising page! Pick a challenge that everyone who wants to can take part in, even if only for part of the way. Make it more difficult for more experienced team members by adding weight to their challenge (e.g. carry a weighted backpack or wear a weighted vest). Or take on a weighted stretcher run and rotate out at regular intervals.
Learning enhances self-esteem, which can improve well-being. Army Cadets learn many new skills such as Shooting, Map Reading and First Aid.
Take ACCTion – get a group together and try something new! Maybe you’ve always wanted to join a choir? Put one together, then practice and perform to raise funds for ACCT UK. Or perhaps you fancy getting creative? Let your imagination go wild and hold an art auction to sell your group’s pieces.
In Army Cadets, we promote teamwork and helping each other, as well as looking after the wider community through our Community Engagement subject.
Take ACCTion – You’re already doing this by supporting ACCT UK, but perhaps you’d like to make life a little easier for those around you too. For example, your team could do a sponsored litter pick in your area and get donations for every mile you clear.
Take the time to switch off and take notice of your surroundings. The Army Cadets is a great way to escape the online world by encouraging young people to get out in nature and live in the moment.
Taking Notice: Whatever challenge you choose to do for ACCT UK from Steps 1-4, make sure that you take the time to stop and appreciate the world around you. Be kind to yourself.
Choose which of the first 4 steps best suit your group and decide what you want to do together to Take ACCTion.
